Rosewill RSV-Z2600: A Decent, Low-Cost 2U Server Chassis

The build quality of the RSV-Z2600 is decent but wasn't expecting too much out of this low-cost server chassis. Some of the annoying factors were the case being held on by just four little screws, the 80mm fans not being easily replaceable without removing the front panel, and the fans in there are obviously low-quality. The fans require 4-pin molex connectors and in not wanting to bother unscrewing the front panels for each of the systems to replace the fans, I ended up going with the stock fans for the majority of the cases and they turned out performing fine and weren't too noisy.

All of my systems based on the Rosewill RSV-Z2600 ended up fitting fine though if using a full micro-ATX board it will become a bit cramped, especially if using multiple disk drive bays. It's also unfortunate there's no 2.5-inch mounting area short of using a 2.5-inch to 3.5-inch drive bay adapter (not included). Like most low-priced server cases, no rackmount rails are included with the chassis.

In the many systems I've built with this Rosewill 2U rackmount server chassis, they're all running fine -- including the ones that are stacked in between other cases. These cases fit fine within the low-cost StarTech 42U rack cabinets.

Well, that's about all I wanted to say about the Rosewill RSV-Z2600. If you're looking for a low-cost 2U case, this steel chassis is worth considering if price is a big factor in your purchase. I'm happy with the purchase of multiple units -- originally I ordered just one of them but after being satisfied with that build, it went from there until racking up all of the micro-ATX systems. Now that they're all racked, everything still seems to be running fine and haven't encountered any thermal issues or other problems.

The best pricing I've found on this Rosewill 2U rackmount server case is $69 with free shipping at Amazon.com.
