First up was the DiRT Rally Linux game port that's still tested as being one of the good quality OpenGL ports to Linux by Feral Interactive. With OpenGL, the Radeon performance is very strong thanks to the mature RadeonSI driver where even the RX Vega 64 pulls ahead of the GTX 1080, something that wasn't until recently possible on Linux. The GTX 1660 Ti performance comes in between the Radeon RX 580 and RX 590, which is a bit shy considering of the particular graphics cards tested, the Sapphire Radeon RX 590 costs around $20 USD less than the EVGA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti.

But with Vulkan, the NVIDIA Linux driver stack is much more competitive than the common Radeon RADV Vulkan driver: rather than the GTX 1660 Ti running short of the RX 590, the GTX 1660 Ti with the F1 2017 Vulkan-powered racing game pulls ahead of the RX Vega 56. The GTX 1660 Ti nearly matches the GTX 1070 Ti performance for this Linux game port.

On a performance-per-Watt basis with F1 2017, the GeForce GTX 1660 Ti remains up around the Turing graphics cards for efficiency and well ahead of the Radeon Polaris and Vega graphics cards tested.

F1 2018 didn't see a native Linux port but does run great using the Windows game running on Steam Play with Proton and DXVK. The GTX 1660 Ti at 1440p with ultra high quality settings pulled right in front of the GTX 1070 Ti and RX Vega 64. With these settings, F1 2018 via Steam Play on Linux was very much playable with the GTX 1660 Ti.

The GeForce GTX 1660 Ti could also handle running F1 2018 at 4K with low quality settings and the performance here came ahead of the RX 590 but behind the RX Vega 56 and GTX 1070 Ti.
