For the FS-Mark test runs there wasn't much of a performance difference between having just the home directory encrypted via eCryptfs or encrypting the entire root file-system with LUKS. The performance hit in this scenario for the high-end Core i7 4900MQ "Haswell" CPU with Intel 520 Series SATA 3.0 SSD was about 50%.

Running one instance of Dbench didn't have as much of a performance impact as running FS-Mark when dealing with disk encryption. In this case, the full disk encryption via LUKS was also noticeably faster than using eCryptfs on just the home directory.
