When starting with some gaming tests, the open-source Nexuiz game was up first. To not much surprise, the Core i7 3960X was the fastest processor tested and came out several frames ahead of the Core i5 2500K while the same Sapphire Radeon HD 6950 2GB graphics card was used across all of the systems with the same Catalyst 11.11 (fglrx 8.91 release stream) proprietary driver.

Warsow is another open-source game that is largely CPU bound when using the proprietary NVIDIA / AMD drivers and any current-generation GPU. The i7-3960X performed about the same as the i5-2500K and AMD FX-8150.
