Intel Icelake "Gen11" Graphics Are A Huge Upgrade Over Gen9 With Good Linux Support

With the OpenGL Tesseract game that was used due to it being playable with Gen9 UHD Graphics 620, when switching to the Gen11 Iris Plus Graphics meant a 47% increase in performance or 57% when using the Iris Gallium3D driver.

The performance-per-Watt was about 60% better than the Core i7 8565U or 95% to the Core i7 8550U.

On average the Core i7-1065G7 was running cooler than the earlier 14nm processors.

With the Xonotic open-source first person shooter game was also significant performance and efficiency improvements for the Core i7 1065G7 and more so when switching over to the new open-source Intel Gallium3D driver. With ultimate quality settings at 1080p, the Core i7-1065G7 was 41% faster than the Core i7-8565U or 52% over the i7-8550U.

When it comes to performance-per-Watt, the Icelake Gen11 graphics were 34~43% better.
