For the synthetic BlogBench benchmark that tries to simulate running a blog web server, the EPYC 7742 performance without SMT was double that of the Graviton2.

Meanwhile one of the early wins for Graviton2 was with the C-Blosc library.

With the single-threaded cryptography benchmarks via Crypto++, the AMD EPYC 7002 series processor was much faster with the exception of the unkeyed algorithms tested.

Surprisingly the Graviton2 bare metal instance did manage to outperform the EPYC 7742 with the HPCG benchmark focused on the system interconnect performance.

But for the NPB parallel-focused benchmarks, the EPYC 7742 returned to offering hefty wins over the 64 core Neoverse N1 platform.
