How Intel's Clear Linux Is Competing Against Late-2020 Linux Distributions
With HPCG, Endeavour OS, Clear Linux, and Fedora Workstation 33 all had a slight advantage over Debian Testing and Ubuntu 20.10.
For CP2K as a real-world molecular dynamics workload, Fedora Workstation 33 came out in first place followed closely by Clear Linux while Debian Testing and Endeavour OS were in distant last place finishes.
NAMD exhibited similar performance across these 2020 Linux distributions as did Dolfyn and other test cases.
With HMMer, Clear Linux did come out ahead as this is one of the known workloads where its aggressive compiler flags by default do help the performance.
With LAMMPS, Clear Linux was tied with the Arch-based Endeavour OS.
