Btrfs File-System For Old Computers?
Running Dbench with six clients was clearly faster than EXT4 with all of the tested mount options. Btrfs compression was of little benefit for this test from the Intel Core Duo notebook.
The IOzone results were not too interesting between EXT4 and Btrfs, or with most of the mount options, except when enabling compression for this 2GB write test.
The IOzone 2GB read test was similar to the write results, with Btrfs and EXT4 being close to the same speed, except the ability for Btrfs to provide transparent compression support continues to be a great advantage.
More tests (and from an older Pentium M notebook) will come after Oktoberfest with looking at the CPU usage and other metrics.
