First up is the classic BMW scene...

Blender 2.81 CUDA vs. OptiX Performance

Not only has the CUDA-based performance matured a lot from Maxwell through Pascal and now with Turing GPUs being much faster, but once flipping on OptiX with the RTX cards... Damn! The first time I ran Blender with OptiX I was in awe at the rendering performance with the NVIDIA RTX GPUs.

With the more demanding "classroom" scene, the NVIDIA RTX GPU performance with OptiX was taking about half the time to render as it was when using the CUDA back-end, which is already faster than Blender's OpenCL code.

The Fishy Cat scene on the TITAN RTX with OptiX could render in just over 30 seconds while the once high-end GTX 980 Maxwell took about ten times longer.
