AMD Radeon HD 4290 On Linux

Beginning with the open-source Warsow game at 1920 x 1080 the Radeon HD 4290 was playable with an average frame-rate of 34 FPS, but this was well behind the other discrete GPUs tested. Even the old ATI Radeon HD 2600PRO graphics card and the newer Radeon HD 4550 had performed significantly better than the Radeon HD 4290 with Warsow. The Radeon HD 4650 graphics card was 3.58x faster than the HD 4290 IGP.

With VDrift the Radeon HD 4290 was now faster than the Radeon HD 2400PRO, but neither graphics processor could provide a playable experience with this drift racing game. The Radeon HD 2600PRO / HD 3650 / HD 4550 also had problems handling this open-source game at 1920 x 1080, but the Radeon HD 4650 and HD 4670 handled the OpenGL game fine.
