Benchmarking Amazon Linux 2 LTS Candidate 2

The boot time for Amazon Linux 2 currently sits between Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.5 and Ubuntu 16.04 LTS. Amazon Linux 2017 results weren't available since it doesn't boot with systemd.

The Amazon Linux 2 kernel was the quickest to boot.

But the user-space portion was taking longer. Why the boot time is important for the cloud is for those booting new instances on-demand in response to load.

Amazon Linux 2 was leading of the tested distributions when it came to the Redis server performance.

Ubuntu 16.04 LTS was faster than Amazon Linux 2 with the Ruby Optcarrot benchmark.

That's where things stand today for Amazon Linux 2. As this Amazon Linux distribution continues to mature, we'll certainly be running more benchmarks on Phoronix.
