Looking back on our results, while not significant, there were some minor gains in all three benchmarks used. The results had fluttered between driver releases, but in the end the performance was slightly elevated from where it had started. However, the Radeon X1000 series performance (and all fglrx supported devices for that matter) continue to run significantly slower when compared against the ATI Windows Catalyst suite. With these slower results, it places ATI at a huge disadvantage against NVIDIA -- they have near-equal levels of performance with their Windows and Linux display drivers. As the fglrx drivers continue to evolve after AMD's acquisition of ATI Technologies, we will certainly be here to share additional information. It is important to note that for this article we had used a single Radeon X1000 graphics card and in a single test system, so depending upon your system configuration the results may vary slightly.
