Next up, we have the predecessor to the Swiftech Storm waterblock that was used by previous water cooling kits, and that is the Apogee. With the Apogee waterblock, the structure was optimized using a diamond pin matrix and taking into consideration the latest thermal and physical characteristics of AMD and Intel's latest desktop processors. As with most modern day waterblocks, the Swiftech Apogee is compatible with Socket 478, LGA-775, 603/604, 462, 754, 939, and 940. Included with the H20-220 kit was the mounting hardware for all of these different CPU sockets and including parts for Intel Xeon Nocona processors. The waterblock base is composed of C110 copper. In our examination, we found absolutely no imperfections on the base or any other areas of the Apogee. Two sets of hose barbs are included with the CPU waterblock for 3/8" and 1/2" tubing. No GPU or Chipset waterblocks are included with the H20-220 APEX Ultra but optional blocks can be purchased separately.

The final major component shipping with the H20-220 APEX Ultra is the reservoir that happens to be the MCRES-MICRO compared against the 5.25" drive bay reservoir that was used in past Swiftech kits. This reservoir is incredibly tiny with dimensions of 100 x 76 x 38mm and supports a maximum capacity of 4.5 fluid ounces. Like the waterblock, the reservoir supports 1/2" and 3/8" barbs. Coming from the folks at Swiftech, we did not expect anything less than high quality and the MCRES-MICRO is no exception with its NPSM threads and O-ring seals and fill-port cap.

In addition to the major components included, Swiftech also includes its Coolsleeves, vinyl tubing, and miscellaneous accessories. The Coolsleeves we have here are supportive up to 5/8" OD tubing and the philosophy behind the product is similar to inserting wire inside of the tubing to prevent kinks and bends but the Swiftech Coolsleeves allows the system to be temporary and customizable. Included with the Swiftech H20-220 APEX Ultra is 8 feet of 7/16" industrial grade tubing, which should be more than enough tubing for nearly any setup. Also included with the kit is Swiftech's HydrX water-cooling additive and coolant. The liquid is green UV reactive while prohibiting oxidation, algae formation, and improves heat transfer. With the water cooling kit we have here being designed for extreme performance and silent computing, let us see how the setup performs!
