LINUX KERNEL
Last week when releasing the Linux 2.6.35-rc2 kernel, Linus was upset with the number of late merges and other commits that were receiving pull requests in the Linux 2.6.35 kernel development cycle when the work should instead be now about bug and regression fixes. As such, Linus was going to be much more stringent about what he would allow within the Linux 2.6.35-rc3 kernel and he has indeed followed his tighter rules.

The Linux 2.6.35-rc3 kernel was released last night and it indeed carries not a lot of new code but only the regression/bug fixes he is after in a post-RC1 kernel. There were only 159 commits between the 2.6.35-rc2 and 2.6.35-rc3 releases and in total just about 2,000 lines of changed code. Linus wouldn't even allow the GPU thermal monitoring code for the ATI Radeon R600/700 DRM to be pulled into the Linux 2.6.35 kernel now on the basis of it being new work.

The Linux 2.6.35-rc3 kernel release announcement with its short change-log can be found at LKML.org.
