A new open-source game (actually, two games) have been ported to run on Wayland without a dependence on X11.

Neverball and the Neverputt games as part of being ported to SDL2 are now running on Wayland/Weston. Per this tweet, the SDL2 ports of Neverball / Neverputt are running on Wayland with the reference Weston compositor.

Neverball is a cross-OS 3D platform game while Neverputt is a mini golf game that was spun off from Neverball.

Those wanting to try out this open-source game code with SDL2 and Wayland support can find the changes on GitHub.
