An LLVM 3.3.1 Point Release Is Likely To Come

Tom Stellard was the one proposing LLVM point releases most recently and was willing to step up to the plate in handling point releases since the AMD employee now has a vested stake in the compiler infrastructure. AMD is heavily backing LLVM now due to their dependence on it with the R600 GPU back-end that's needed for Gallium3D compute support and an optional shader compiler back-end for more recent AMD Radeon GPUs.
With now being at a midpoint between LLVM 3.3 and LLVM 3.4, and the rate of patches having slowed down recently, Tom Stellard is proposing to do the first LLVM 3.3 point release in September. Tom is hoping to do a first release candidate on 3 September followed by two more RCs during September and doing the LLVM 3.3.1 release on 24 September, if all goes according to plan.
More details on the planned LLVM 3.3.1 release can be found via this mailing list post from Friday.
