7-Way Linux Desktop Gaming Comparison On Ubuntu 14.10

The fastest desktop on Ubuntu 14.10 when running Valve's Counter-Strike: Source was Enlightenment E17 followed by KDE and Xfce. The slowest desktop was GNOME Shell, which in our setup seemed to run into problems with the Steam games -- the GNOME Shell would think the games were unresponsive and causing issues.

With the OpenArena open-source game, the performance between the different desktop environments were minimal with the Intel Haswell graphics on the stock Ubuntu 14.10 setup.
