Now is a look at the performance-per-Watt for the different workloads. For the performance-per-Watt tests, they were carried out only on the Skylake Xeon processors due to maintaining the same exact motherboard+RAM+heatsink+etc for the comparison.

There isn't a big difference in the system power consumption since most of the E3 v5 CPUs tested have an 80 Watt TDP while the -L processors come in respectively lower.

It's not to much surprise, the Xeon E3-1280 was delivering the best performance-per-Watt with a turbo frequency of 4.0GHz for the 80 Watt processor. The E3-1260L was delivering the best performance-per-Watt in this test of the lower-power Xeons.

The lower-power Xeons also had their time coming out on top.

Lastly is a look at the AC system power consumption data for these Skylake processors during testing.
