The Open-Source ATI Driver Is Becoming A Lot Faster

While OpenArena was playable on the Mobility Radeon X1400 with any driver, the open-source driver performance was still well behind that of the proprietary Catalyst driver from before the R500 support was dropped. Comparing the Ubuntu 10.10 performance to where it is at now, it is up by 12% or 40% if the swap buffer wait is disabled.

At 1400 x 1050, the latest open-source ATI driver is now 40% faster than where it is at with an Ubuntu 10.10 stock installation. This though is just one third of the frame-rate as the Catalyst 9.3 driver.
