BIOS:

ASRock continues to use BIOSes from American Megatrends Inc and this remains true with the ASRock NetTop ION 330. From the BIOS on this NVIDIA ION nettop there are all the usual features plus a few interesting extras for this Atom system. In particular, ASRock allows the user to overclock the Intel Atom 330! This 1.6GHz CPU can be set to operate at 1.7GHz, 1.8GHz, 1.9GHz, 2.0GHz, or 2.1GHz. We were able to easily set this system to run at 2.1GHz and we ran into no stability issues, thermal / noise problems, or anything else.

This BIOS also supports ASRock Instant Flash, ASRock Instant Boot, adjusting the memory timings, tweaking the GPU core and shader clocks for the GeForce 9400M, and various other options. For further tuning the overclock, the Vcore, DRAM, and chipset voltages can be tweaked. The Vcore voltage can be adjusted from 1.021V to 1.315V, DRAM from 1.794V to 2.144V, and the Intel chipset from 1.004V to 1.153V. Further enriching this BIOS, the system fan is controllable so that it runs in a silent, normal, overclocking, or full speed mode. Even when overclocking this system, the fan is very quiet and did not bother us at all. The system also continued to run quite cool, but we do not have specific numbers to share due to the lack of LM_Sensors support with this motherboard for being able to monitor the thermal sensors within Linux.
