Open-Source AMD Radeon Graphics Had A Wonderful 2013
With Counter-Strike: Source the R600 Gallium3D driver couldn't render correctly or deliver playable frame-rates in Ubuntu 12.10 with the open-source driver, but now under Ubuntu 14.04 (and 13.10) the rendering is correct and the frame-rates are certainly playable!
In one year the open-source Radeon Gallium3D driver went from sub-15 FPS average for Counter-Strike: Source on the Radeon HD 4890 and HD 6950 to now being close to 160 FPS.
The open-source Doom 3 performance is also much better and one year ago the Radeon HD 4890 even was still having issues properly rendering the game.
The OpenArena performance nearly doubled in the past year for both graphics cards on the AMD R600 Gallium3D driver.
