Unigine Heaven continues destroying systems and in comparing the cross-OS OpenGL performance it showed the results to be roughly in line.

Unigine's Sanctuary and Tropics tech demos were rather the same between platforms but there appeared to be a slight advantage in the Windows 8.1 performance.

The similarity in performance for these OpenGL graphics tests isn't too much of a surprise given that AMD's proprietary Catalyst graphics driver is derived from a largely shared code-base to allow for near feature and performance parity. The close performance between Windows and Linux when using the Catalyst driver has been seen for several years now across multiple generations of hardware; it's just good to see and confirm that the AMD Kaveri graphics performance is the same way. The CPU performance and other subsystem performance though does tend to differ a lot more between Linux and Windows; stay tuned for those results.
