Windows Server 2019 vs. Linux vs. FreeBSD Gigabit & 10GbE Networking Performance
When seeing how many TCP connections per second could be sustained with Ethr in these different setups, Windows Server 2019 was running amongst the Linux distributions tested.
If looking at the geometric mean of these 10GbE network benchmarks for the test profiles that ran on all tested platforms (thus no Ethr, due to the FreeBSD compatibility), FreeBSD 12.0 was nearly on-par with the fastest Linux distributions while Windows Server 2019 came in right behind this popular BSD. Ubuntu 18.10 though in a number of the tests ended up being much slower than Ubuntu 18.04 LTS and the other Linux distributions with this 10GbE Mellanox benchmarking.
