Intel AES-NI For Ubuntu Home Encryption
When running 12 instances of Dbench there is finally a test result where using the Intel AES-NI support is of noticeable benefit. The AES-NI Intel results for the mobile Sandy Bridge processor is around 21% faster.
While the Dbench result was faster with Intel AES-NI, this came with higher CPU usage. On average, the Core i5 2520M was operating at around 10% greater CPU utilization across its four threads when running Dbench with the new instruction set.
