Ubuntu 12.04 Is ARM-ing Up For Better Performance
Overall, the C-based SciMark 2.0 tests were also noticeably faster under Ubuntu 12.04 LTS on the OMAP4660 device.
Sadly, Smallpt seems to have regressed a bit on the PandaBoard ES for the current state of the Precise Pangolin.
The x264 video encoding at least ended out this early ARM Precise testing on a high note.
Expect many more ARM-based tests as Ubuntu 12.04 LTS nears. We're not even at feature freeze yet for Precise Pangolin so hopefully there will be some more improvements to note in the coming weeks. There will also be more ARM benchmarks (and other ARM testing enhancements) coming soon to the Phoronix Test Suite and other amazing features for OpenBenchmarking.org via some of our work for commercial/enterprise clients. I am also hopeful to soon have my hands on a NVIDIA Tegra 3, the Raspberry Pi, and some other new ARM development platforms for Linux benchmarking.
