Ubuntu 21.10 is looking real good for video encode performance...

In a number of the real-world workloads there are worthwhile gains to find with the upcoming Ubuntu 21.10 release on Tiger Lake.

Understandably, the newer GCC 11 compiler on Ubuntu 21.10 in some cases will mean longer compile times as a result of new compiler features/optimizations aimed to deliver faster resulting code.
