The upgraded Mesa stack is very beneficial on the Intel Xe Graphics / Gen12 front with the Iris Gallium3D (OpenGL) and ANV Vulkan drivers continuing to see nice optimizations this year. (Radeon GPUs as well have benefited from continued Mesa work this year too.) Those using Tiger Lake / Gen12 graphics should consider Ubuntu 21.10 for the graphics benefits alone if not wanting to use a third-party repository like the Oibaf PPA for having newer Iris/ANV on existing Ubuntu releases.

For many of the CPU/system benchmarks, the performance was close to that of Ubuntu 21.04.

But in some benchmarks the newer kernel and GCC compiler can play a role in continuing to mature the Intel Tiger Lake performance one year past launch.
