The Linux operating systems and PC-BSD were much faster than the OpenSolaris-based operating systems when it came to the C-Ray ray-tracing benchmarking.

While C-Ray heavily favored Linux and BSD over OpenSolaris, with the POV-Ray benchmark there was barely any difference between operating systems.

Ubuntu 10.10 came out ahead with the BYTE integer arithmetic benchmark while the three OpenSolaris operating systems performed close to the same.

OpenSolaris b134 was noticeably slower than Augustiner-Schweinshaxe and PC-BSD 8.1 while Fedora 14 and Ubuntu 10.10 were slightly faster.
