Running The New Open-Source NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30 Series Support In Linux 6.2
Hopefully in 2023 we see better upstream open-source NVIDIA Linux driver support with the Nouveau GSP work, the NVK Vulkan driver hopefully being merged in Mesa and becoming viable for Linux gamers, and more work by NVIDIA on enabling these open-source efforts and bettering their own open-source GPU kernel driver code too. Until then, if you are running a modern NVIDIA GeForce graphics card on Linux it's really only useful with their packaged driver. Besides the miserably low performance, there was also the issue of not being able to drive the RTX 3060 Ti at its native 4K configuration and the RTX 3080 Ti and RTX 3090 on my setup failing to properly light up. The best open-source upstream Linux graphics driver support right now easily remains with AMD Radeon and Intel Arc Graphics.
