Linaro 12.12 Enhances ARM Linux Performance

Overall, Linaro 12.12 does show a number of performance improvements over Linaro 12.10. In the two months time between these October and December releases, GCC 4.7 was made the default code compiler that does bring some notable progress on ARMv7 over GCC 4.6. There's also been other improvements made in the Linaro 12.12 (and Linaro 12.11) cycles, but the compiler upgrade is the big performance booster. Meanwhile, Fedora and Arch Linux on ARM were slower than Ubuntu/Linaro, but new Fedora 18 Beta ARM benchmarks and other new ARM Linux distribution performance tests are forthcoming on Phoronix.
