GNOME's Wayland session immediately shows its competency in delivering good out-of-the-box performance and came out ahead of the GNOME X.Org session. The KDE Plasma Wayland session was also running better than the KDE Plasma X.Org session for Batman: Arkham Knight running on Linux via Steam Play with DXVK.

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive for both OpenGL and Vulkan saw GNOME Wayland out in front followed by KDE Plasma Wayland while the lightweight Xfce desktop was in last.

F1 2020 under Steam Play saw little difference between the desktops and display systems.
