LLVM Clang 13 Performance Is In Great Shape For Intel Xeon "Ice Lake"

Clang 13's performance overall certainly continues moving in the right direction. Similar to the recent AMD EPYC compiler benchmarks, Clang 13 on Intel's latest-generation Xeon Platinum 8380 "Ice Lake" is also looking like a pleasant six month upgrade for this widely-used, open-source compiler stack.

97 different benchmarks were carried out for this Ice Lake + Clang 11/12/13 compiler testing. From the geometric mean of all the C/C++ benchmarks carried out on this Intel Ice Lake Linux server, Clang 13 on average was around 3.5% faster than Clang 12 that was just released this spring.

Look for the LLVM/Clang 13.0 official release to happen around the end of September with more benchmarks still to come on Phoronix.
