Intel Baseline Profile Yields Odd Power/Performance On Linux
The Linux kernel compilation speed was ever so slightly slower in the Intel Baseline Profile mode but the average CPU power consumption was 13% higher and average core temperature up by 10%.
At least for this ASUS PRIME Z790-P WiFi motherboard with current BIOS, the Intel Baseline Profile is yielding worse CPU power consumption than with the ASUS defaults... I ended up repeating all of these benchmarks too after being surprised by the outcome.
The wild fluctuations in the CPU power consumption for short bursts rather than the sustained power defaults really wrecked the Core i9 14900K power efficiency.
