The GIMP imaging program also provides an interesting look at how the performance has evolved over the years for these Intel Core laptops.

Blender is still a bit much to run on laptops unless having OpenCL/CUDA acceleration.

Doing scripting development from the Dell XPS 13 9380 is quite speedy with the likes of PHP and Python performance.

SciKit-Learn is substantially faster on the newer Intel CPUs than the older hardware.

Lastly of these raw performance benchmark results is a look at the geometric mean for all of the benchmark results... From here we see going from the Dell XPS 13 9370 to Dell XPS 13 9380 yielded a 11~12% increase in performance with the new Intel Whiskey Lake processors. That amount isn't so much worth upgrading from the 9370 to 9380, but as you can see from the older laptops benchmarked, if you are on Broadwell~Haswell or older, it may be worth considering an upgrade in 2019 unless wanting to hold out for Intel Icelake or AMD Raven Ridge 2.
