AMD Ryzen Threadripper 2920X & 2970WX Linux Performance Benchmarks
When it came to the time needing to build the Linux kernel, the 2970WX managed that x86_64 default configuration build in 40 seconds while the 2920X took 62 seconds, similar to the 7980XE and 7900X, respectively.
When it came to compiling the LLVM compiler stack, the Intel CPUs ran a few seconds faster in this lengthier build process. The Threadripper 2970WX took just over 4 minutes to build LLVM 6 while the 2920X required just over six minutes for this large code-base.
The high core count Threadripper processors continue to decimate the Intel Core i9 CPUs with the C-Ray multi-threaded ray-tracing performance.
It's a similar story as well with the POVRay ray-tracer.
