Thermalright V-1 Ultra
A name that is synonymous with computer enthusiasts and overclockers when it comes to cooling manufacturers is Thermalright. While Thermalright has experimented with GPU and Chipset coolers in the past, their product efforts primarily focus upon AMD and Intel CPU cooling solutions. Among Thermalright's assets are the popular XP-90, XP-120, HR-01, and SP-94. With ATI Radeon and NVIDIA GeForce GPUs becoming unbelievably fast, the cooling concerns become an ever-increasing reality. While some manufacturers such as eVGA or Sapphire offer particular models with very high-end cooling solutions, and in some instances even a self-contained water cooler, for the most part though these stock cooling solutions are often inadequate especially if any overclocking is going to be attempted. The GPU heatsink we have our hands on today is Thermalright's newest in this arena -- the V-1 Ultra. Thermalright's V-1 Ultra is the big brother to the original V-1, which was released just a few months back.

Like past Thermalright products, the retail packaging was very minimal. The V-1 Ultra was contained inside of a plain cardboard carton with the only markings on this container being the manufacturer "Thermalright" and product "V1 Ultra". Opening up the container, there was a wealth of Styrofoam that protected the contents. The list of included components was the VGA heatsink itself with one 80mm fan, Thermalright case sticker, GPU installation instructions, memory heatsink instructions, and the accessories needed to properly mount the heatsink. These parts included a black metallic retention mount, two medium metallic arm plates, two short metallic arm plates, three sets of screws, Thermalright thermal paste, two sets of washers, eight VGA memory heatsinks, one cushion pad, and two sets of thermal pads. A foam block is shipped with the unit for protective purposes to protect the integrity of the three heatpipes. The ATI Radeon graphics cards in which the Thermalright V-1 Ultra has official compatibility with are the 9800, X700, X800, X850, X1800, and X1900. On the other side, the NVIDIA GeForce cards include the 6600, 6600GT, 6800, 6800GT, 6800 Ultra, 7800GS, 7800GT, 7800GTX, 7900GT, and 7900GTX.
