BeagleBone Port Of CoreBoot Going Mainline
Hitting the Coreboot Git repository on Sunday morning by Google developers was the initial BeagleBone support.
This support includes handling the TI AM335X ARMv7 processor plus other bits specific to the BeagleBone. This is just yet another important milestone for Coreboot, which is thriving now largely due to Google's use of Coreboot on their Chrome OS systems for speedy yet secure booting.
On a related note, coming up soon on Phoronix will be BeagleBone Black benchmarks. The new Beagle Bone Black features a 1GHz ARM Sitara Cortex-A8, 2GB of onboard memory, USB / HDMI / uSD / ethernet connectivity, and is compatible with Ubuntu, Android, and other Linux systems.
