Vulkan Ray-Tracing Along With Other New/Updated Benchmarks For February
There have been plenty of new and updated benchmarks over the course of February ahead of upcoming CPU and GPU launches.
The Phoronix Test Suite and OpenBenchmarking.org is now up to offering 635 unique test profiles / benchmarks with some 2,150+ revisions to those benchmarks over the past decade. February was another busy month adding and updating test profiles as well as shipping the latest Phoronix Test Suite 10.2 point releases for open-source, automated cross-platform benchmarking.
Below is a look at all of the updates now available via OpenBenchmarking.org for Phoronix Test Suite users or if simply wanting to go to the test profile pages to gauge the CPU/GPU performance in the different real-world workloads. All these updates are available to Phoronix Test Suite users automatically if on an Internet connection when the metadata automatically updates or by running phoronix-test-suite openbenchmarking-refresh to force refresh.
New test profiles / benchmarks introduced during this month for our benchmarking software:
rtiv - Finally, a decent open-source Vulkan ray-tracing benchmark is now available with "Ray Tracing in Vulkan".
geexlab-rt - Another Vulkan ray-tracing benchmark! Yes, there is the existing geexlab test profile while now also the Geeks3D project has been working on this ray-tracing version.
jpegxl - A JPEG XL image encoding benchmark using its reference encoder.
jpegxl-decode - Similarly, a JPEG XL image decode benchmark.
stream-dynamic - An AMD modified version of Stream is now available that aims for modern Stream defaults.
ngspice - NGspice is now available as a benchmark of this open-source circuit simulator.
Updated tests during the course of February:
portal2 - Portal 2 is now working with Vulkan and OpenGL benchmarking support.
blender - The popular Blender test profile has been updated againt the new Blender 2.92.
avifenc - The AVIF image encoder test has been updated against the new libavif 0.9 upstream release.
dav1d - The dav1d AV1 decoder has been updated against the new upstream v0.8.2. This dav1d update has some exciting x86_64 and ARM64 optimizations.
ddnet - The DDraceNetwork game has been updated against its latest upstream.
toybrot - The Toybrot fractal generator with Threaded Building Blocks, OpenMP, C++ Threads, and C++ Tasks implementations has been updated against its latest upstream along with other improvements.
insurgency - This game has been updated against its latest upstream.
civilization-vi - Civilization VI also required updates to make compatible with the latest Steam upstream.
gromacs - GROMACS 2021 upstream is now in place.
v-ray - Updated against the latest V-RAY 5.
paraview - Updated against ParaView 5.9 upstream.
pennant - Updated OpenMP handling.
nwchem - Updated against NWChem 7.0.2 upstream.
