Tyan S2915 n6650W & S2927 n3600B

The Tyan Thunder n6650W motherboard was ever so slightly behind the n3600M and n3600B with the LZMA compression performance, but nothing to cause concern.

The physics performance as measured by Bullet was neck-and-neck between the three motherboards.

There was some fluctuation in the NAS Parallel Benchmarks' IS.C test where the Tyan n3600B fell behind the n3600M and n6650W.

The Thunder n6650W and Thunder n3600B are again two well built motherboards from Tyan. Both worked well with Linux and are similar to each other but with the Tyan Thunder n6650W (S2915) offering better expansion and connectivity support via its additional NVIDIA nForce PRO 3050 controller to provide PCI-X support and two additional PCI Express slots. Depending upon your individual needs one motherboard may make better sense, but aside from some initial headaches experienced at first that were quickly cleared up by Tyan’s support, both are really fine products. The Tyan S2915A2NRF-E can be found for a modest price of about $400 USD at NewEgg while the Tyan S2927G2NR-E will cost you $100 less at NewEgg.
