FIO read tests showed RAID1 (with both 2 and 4 disk configurations) performing much better than the Btrfs built-in RAID1 functionality. However, the RAID10 functionality with Btrfs seemed to perform much better than the traditional Linux Software RAID.

With FIO random and sequential writes, however, the RAID1 Linux Software RAID implementation appears slower than the native Btrfs RAID.
