A variety of OpenGL test cases were then run to see the performance overhead difference. Given this laptop has just HD Graphics 620, a few of the lighter (non-Steam) Linux games were used.

It's good to see nearly identical performance of these games between X11 and Wayland. In some past releases, the overhead of the Mutter compositor and XWayland had led to a clear reduction in performance.

Unigine still seems to have problems when running via XWayland in both full-screen and windowed modes.
