The x264 video encoding performance was quite competitive in coming in line between Ubuntu 18.04.1 and Clear Linux.

But perhaps due to FreeBSD 12's default (Clang) compiler, the x265 benchmark yielded dramatically slower performance compared to the Linux distributions.

FreeBSD 12.0 was running strong with GraphicsMagick except for the cases heavily relying upon threading as FreeBSD's default Clang compiler still doesn't work well with OpenMP.

One of the dramatic surprises was seeing significantly higher performance on FreeBSD 12.0 for the Poisson pressure solver compared to the Linux distributions.

FreeBSD 12.0 was performing around the speed of Clear Linux on this dual EPYC server, which was behind that of Ubuntu and CentOS.
