May 2011: Gallium3D vs. Classic Mesa vs. Catalyst

Sadly, Warsow has regressed in the latest Mesa Git code for the R600 Gallium3D driver. Warsow at least worked on both classic and Gallium3D for the Radeon HD 5770.

With World of Padman, Gallium3D was still performing well in front of classic Mesa but still many times slower than Catalyst.

Padman is playable with open-source ATI drivers at 1920 x 1080 (Note: the ordering of the GPUs had changed at this point due to some crashes that had occurred in Warsow and then the test recovery and not resorting the results prior to rendering their graphics for this article).
