Examination:

Touring around the ATP ToughDrive, its complete external housing is composed of rubber that is incredibly tough. Unlike the Corsair Flash Voyager and its flash drive series where the rubber could flex relatively easy, the consistency of this rubber is much more rigid in its design. Thanks to its durable housing, the ToughDrive is indeed designed to be tough with its shock absorption and water resistance. Also unlike the multi-colored design of the Corsair product, ATP's uses a completely black casing with white text. On one side of the ATP device is the ToughDrive labeling as well as a small ATP logo and then the drive's capacity, which in our instance is 1GB. Also on this side of the module is a small LED for indicating drive activity while on the opposite side is simply its certification, model number (AF1GUFT1BK), and is made in Taiwan. One of the minor points that are nice to see is the eyehole on the drive for use with the lanyard is of reasonable size. With some past flash devices, mainly those from Transcend, we had seen eyeholes that were unbearably small thus often a hassle when sliding through the lanyard. Like the Flash Voyager, protecting the USB 2.0 connector is a rubber cap that has proven to be a viable deterrent for water seeping into the unit but as always, some users can lose the cap quite easily. Overall, the ATP ToughDrive is much like other shock and water resilient flash devices we have seen in the past but of course, the distinguishing factor for the drive should be its level of performance so let us see how it performs.
