With some of the prior speculative execution attack mitigations the overall code compilation / build time performance tended to not be impacted much, but with Retbleed there is a small but consistent difference.

Database workloads are impacted by these default Retbleed mitigations.

Even heavy image operations with the GIMP imaging program saw a measurable difference from the new Retbleed-patched kernel.

Or the RawTherapee RAW imaging program too saw regressions on both the AMD and Intel systems tested.
