The Current Radeon RX Vega 64 / Radeon VII Linux OpenCL Performance Against NVIDIA
The Radeon VII is quite a competent OpenCL/ROCm performer against the current-generation NVIDIA wares on Linux.
Well, except like in integer performance where it comes up well short of the competition.
The ROCm stack does appear to still have higher latency compared to NVIDIA's OpenCL Linux driver.
In the Leela Chess Zero chess benchmark with OpenCL back-end, the Radeon VII was performing around the GeForce GTX 1080 / RTX 2070 performance level.
LuxMark has long favored AMD GPUs/drivers, but for what it's worth the Radeon VII did beat out the TITAN RTX in the Luxball scene.
Stay tuned for some fresh tests with ROCm 2.5 as soon as I'm back in the office.
