Initial Radeon vs. GeForce Vulkan Ray-Tracing Performance On Linux
If just taking the geometric mean of all the raw Vulkan ray-tracing data points benchmarked, that's how the situation looks at the moment. The result from GeeXLab-RT and two of the Ray-Tracing In Vulkan scenes showed the AMD Radeon RX 6000 series ray-tracing performance can be strong while the results from the other R.T.I.V. showed that there still are some shortcomings either with RDNA2 or the current Radeon Software for Linux 21.10 driver.
There isn't much more to add though at the moment given the limited amount of software currently making use of Vulkan ray-tracing extensions on Linux. In any case, we'll continue to monitor the situation as the Vulkan ray-tracing support for these drivers and the Linux ecosystem at large continues to mature.
