First up was GeeXLab with its path tracing demo that makes use of the Vulkan ray-tracing extensions. At 1440p to much surprise the RX 6800 XT managed to outperform even the RTX 3090 -- it would as a result be interesting to see how the Radeon RX 6900 series performs albeit we don't currently have any hardware. With this first Vulkan ray-tracing test we were quite surprised and impressed by where the RDNA2 graphics cards were coming in against the RTX 30 series.

Even at 4K, the Radeon RX 6800 XT slightly edged past the RTX 3090 for this ray-tracing benchmark.

On a performance-per-Watt basis, the RDNA2 graphics cards also came out ahead of the tested NVIDIA graphics cards for GeeXLab-RT.
