Mesa 18.2 vs. 18.3 vs. 19.0 January Benchmarks For RadeonSI/RADV
For fans of the SuperTuxKart open-source racing game, the RadeonSI performance saw a nice improvement with Vega on Mesa 19.0.
The Thrones of Britannia performance has been stable since Mesa 18.3 with no real changes on Mesa 19.0 to be noted.
Those wanting to dig through more OpenGL/Vulkan benchmarks for this round of testing can find the complete data set via this OpenBenchmarking.org result file. But long story short, in select cases the Radeon RX Vega 56 saw slightly better performance on Mesa 19.0 and in some cases the RX 580 Polaris too, but for the most part there hasn't been any big performance changes to report for Mesa 19.0. However, to be found with Mesa 19.0 are a lot of RADV Vulkan fixes in particular as well as a number of newer Vulkan extensions but there is also fixes for RadeonSI too but not the elusive OpenGL 4.6 milestone. With the exception of ET: Legacy, at least no real performance drops were found on the current Mesa 19.0 code for these AMD Radeon GPUs. Mesa 19.0 will be entering its feature freeze at the end of January and should be out as the latest stable Mesa3D release towards the end of February.
