File-System Benchmarks With The Linux 2.6.34 Kernel
Next up with IOzone we turned to running an 8GB read test. EXT4 was the fastest file-system followed by XFS, Btrfs, and then EXT3. EXT4 was 20% faster at this disk read test than Btrfs.
EXT4 continued with another win when running PostMark. EXT4 was the fastest with 2881 transactions per second followed by Btrfs at 2467 transactions per second while XFS was a ways behind at 1541 TPS and then EXT3 at 954 TPS.
Running our PostgreSQL test yielded another win for the EXT4 file-system while XFS and EXT3 were close for the second place spot. Btrfs, however, is severely hampered in this test where it was just allowing for 69 transactions per second.
